Slo-Pitch Zone Umpires-in-Chief

Softball Ontario is now accepting applications for the position(s) of Slo-Pitch Zone Umpires-in-Chief.  A successful candidate will be an active Slo-Pitch Umpire registered with Softball Ontario.  He or she should have experience as Softball Ontario Umpire Instructor/Evaluator as well as a minimum Slo-Pitch Umpire Certification of Level 3 or higher.  Three years of experience as a Slo-Pitch Umpire is an asset.

Highlights of the responsibilities of the Slo-Pitch Zone Umpire-in-Chief include:

  • Communicate with the Slo-Pitch Umpire Committee Liaison
  • Assign Working Umpires for Slo-Pitch Ontario Association Tournaments 
  • To instruct at Softball Ontario Slo-Pitch Umpires Clinics 
  • To attend meetings at the request of the Slo-Pitch Provincial Umpire-in-Chief 
  • To promote the Softball Ontario Umpires Program to its region 
  • To meet with coaches and local softball associations for clarification of Slo-Pitch rules
  • To submit yearly reports to the Softball Ontario office 
  • To monitor SP umpire evaluation in their zone
  • To appoint SP Evaluators to SP tournaments in their zone
  • To appoint SP Instructors to SP Softball Ontario Umpire clinics within their zone

Those interested in becoming a Slo-Pitch Zone Umpire-in-Chief should send their resume and cover letter detailing their experience to Stephanie Sutton at ssutton@softballontario.ca or by fax (416) 426-7368 by October 23, 2009.

Following the application deadline, the Slo-Pitch Provincial Umpire Committee will complete the appointment process for the Slo-Pitch Zone Umpires-in-Chief and will begin planning for the 2009 softball season for the following Slo-Pitch Zones: 4 and 5.
