Participation Committee Chairperson

 

The Softball Ontario Participation Committee is recruiting for the position of Participation Program Chairperson.  The Participation Program Chairperson is a volunteer who works in conjunction with the Participation Program Coordinator, and is responsible for representation the Participation Committee on all matters concerning its programs and initiatives.

The Participation Committee oversees several Softball Ontario programs, including the Try Softball and Active Softball School Programs, the Get In The Game Symposium, the Community Fun Team, and the Certified Softball Administrator Program (CSAP). The Participation Committee also develops various new initiatives including the Softball Association Fundamental Excellence (S.A.F.E.) Star Program, which is in development and supported by an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, chair and establish agenda for meetings in conjunction with the Program Coordinator
  • Ensure the minutes of meetings are recorded and produced
  • Have knowledge of and support Softball Ontario and related programs and promote the game of softball in general
  • Liaise with Softball Associations and any other interested organizations
  • Assist Program Coordinator in preparing information packages and reports
  • Prepare or obtain articles for Softball Ontario’s newsletters and other media
  • Communicate with Coaching Chairman on any related activities
  • Submit reports to the Softball Ontario Board of Directors’ meeting and attend all Board Meetings to present motions, minutes, plans and budgets when required
  • Recruit and select new members with the Program Coordinator and submit to the Board of Directors for approval
  • Delegate and follow-up on tasks to Committee Members with the Program Coordinator to ensure that all tasks are completed by the specified deadlines
  • Ensure planned and actual spending of monies in conjunction with the Program Coordinator are accurate and judicious (i.e. Committee Budget, Trillium Grant, etc)
  • Promote and provide briefings and presentations to groups, Softball Associations, Schools, Parks & Recreation Departments, etc.
  • Work with Committee to schedule and provide Participation Program Initiatives
  • To review and revise the responsibilities of Committee members once a year with the program Coordinator
  • Liaise with the Program Coordinator and to a lesser extend the Executive Director by the most practical means (i.e. email, phone, meetings, etc)
  • Ensure Softball Ontario Chairman is provided copies of minutes of meetings and is informed of all activities
  • Take part in Participation Program Community Events (minimum of 1 per year)
  • Attend and take an active role in the Get In The Game Symposium

The position of Participation Program Chairperson is appointed for a period of two (2) years.
