Learning Facilitator / Evaluator
Softball Ontario announces the call for applications for Learning Facilitators for Softball Ontario’s National Coaching Certification Program clinics for the sport of Softball. Our clinic line- up includes Learn to Coach, Keep Coaching and Competition-Introduction, Softball. The Learning Facilitator training will place on November 28-29, 2009 at Sport Alliance Building of Ontario in Toronto, ON. Softball Ontario invites you to join us in this new and exciting step in the development of softball in Ontario through Competency Based Education Training and the NEW NCCP.
Learn to Coach Clinics (also known as Community Sport-Initiation) allow recreational, house league and beginner coaches to become recognized as Trained Coaches by the NCCP. Softball Ontario has provided 54 Learn to Coach Clinics across the province since 2005.
Keep Coaching clinics (also known as Community Sport – On Going Participation) teaches recreational, house league, house league select Coaches encouragement of their participants of all ages to continue in the Sport for fun, fitness, skill development and social interaction. This training allows softball coaches to help their players to love softball, learn more skills and continue participation while being recognized as a Trained Coach by NCCP standards. This clinic was launched by Softball Ontario in 2008 and has trained 110 softball coaches across Ontario.Competition-Introduction, Softball- is geared for intermediate coaches who are either coaching youths and/or adults in a Rep or Competitive setting.

This course replaced the Level 1 and Level 2 Technical/Practical and Theory courses of the old knowledge based program. Please note that an evaluation is required as well.
Competition-Introduction, Softball has been offered to softball coaches in Ontario since 2005 and has Trained 250 Softball Coaches which makes Ontario the leaders in Canada in Coach Education in this context stream.Softball Ontario would like to invite you to attend the Learning Facilitator Training Clinic free of charge to become one of our future Learning Facilitators. Travel (mileage) and accommodations will be provided by Softball Ontario for those who qualify. Becoming a Softball Ontario Learning Facilitator/Evaluator is a great opportunity for you to improve softball in your area!
To apply to attend the free Learning Facilitator Clinic funded by the Quest for Gold Program, send a letter of intent via fax to (416) 426-7368 or via email to ssutton@softballontario.ca by 12:00 PM on November 20, 2009. Successful applications should have:
- have a good knowledge of the basic skills and techniques of the game of softball
- commit to instruct a minimum of two (2) Learn to Coach Clinics or two (2) Keep Coaching Clinic or two (2) Competition-Introduction, Softball clinics between January to June 2010
- possess the ability to analyze basic skills
- have the ability to work with other Learning Facilitators in presenting the clinic material
- are able to instruct and communicate effectively with adults
- have Coach Education in the National Coaching Certification Program (old system -fully certified Level 1 and Level 2 in Softball) or in the new system (Trained Learn to Coach, Trained Keep Coaching, Trained Competition-Introduction, Softball). If you are a Coach who is Trained in the Community Sport Stream then you are qualified to facilitate Learn to Coach and Keep Coaching. If you are a Coach who is Trained in the Competition Stream then you are qualified to facilitate Competition-Introduction, Softball.
