Marketing & Promoting Your Association:
Communities are inundated with opportunities to participate in sports and leisure activities. The emphasis in this module is on designing a marketing program, leveraging marketing tools, and creating brand identity.
4 Hours Min #: 10 Participants Max #: 20 Participants
Marketing & Promoting Your Association 101 has been developed for association organizers responsible for generating sustained interest and membership in their associations.
Softball Association programs and activities are often primarily funded by membership revenue but that alone may not support your current offering to the community and sustain future growth. Regardless of the size of your revenue generation project, acquiring funding from external sources is a challenging endeavour.

In Generating Revenue: Sponsorship you will build your knowledge and skills in preparing sponsorship proposals, selecting prospective sources, and developing an effective sales pitch. This is an entry level program for associations interested in learning the basic elements of Sponsorship.

In Generating Revenue: Fundraising you will build your knowledge and skills in needs assessment, types of fundraising, preparing a readiness strategy, developing a compelling message, selecting fundraising sources, and pre-launch research. This is an entry level program for associations interested in learning the basic elements of Fundraising.
4 Hours Min #: 10 Participants Max #: 20 Participants
In Generating Revenue: Grants you will build your knowledge and skills in assessing your needs, preparing a strategy, writing a grant proposal, developing a sales pitch, tips for Ontario Trillium Foundation applicants and a list of resources. This is an entry level program for associations interested in the basics of Grant Funding.

Risk Management is one of the most important concerns in organized sports, yet most Softball Associations have little understanding of what it means. The Risk Management Workshop is an introduction to Risk Management for Softball Associations. Participants will learn the importance of each issue to their organization, and will learn how to create effective policies to address Risk Management within their Association.

The diversity among members is potentially one of your Association’s most valuable assets when the conflicts that these differences create are understood and effectively managed to resolution. The workshop focus is on basic skills for identifying root causes of conflict and developing strategies and techniques to achieve resolution.
Association Management: Learning About Your Community
8 Hours Min #: 10 Participants Max #: 20 Participants
Whether your Softball Association is in its infancy or a long running organization, understanding your community surroundings is a vital part of ensuring that your Association remains active, relevant and responsive to the public needs. In Learning About Your Community you will build your knowledge and skills in how to use information about your community to support your organization goals. This is an entry level program for associations interested in learning about how to use information related to community demographic data, facilities, recreation activities and feedback.
4 Hours Min #: 10 Participants Max #: 20 Participants
The Website Management 101 Workshop is an introduction to websites for beginners, providing participants with the best practices for text, colours and images, as well as teaching participants how to write for an online audience. Participants will also learn how they can obtain a free website through Softball Ontario.

The Special Event Mangement: Slo-Pitch CSAP Workshop will outline best practices for holding special events like tournaments for an adult, slo-pitch audience. Includes information on planning, preparing, scheduling and executing a Slo-Pitch Tournament.
4 Hours Min #: 10 Participants Max #: 20 Participants
The Special Event Mangement: Fast Pitch CSAP Workshop will outline best practices for holding special events like tournaments for a youth, fast pitch audience. Includes information on planning, preparing, scheduling and executing a Fast Pitch Tournament.
